In March of my senior year of high school, I was offered the opportunity to participate in a national media/film competition called STN, that brings middle school and high school media programs together from all across the US. Every year the competition takes place in a different city, this particular yer the event took place in Nashville, Tennessee. The day before we left Nashville happened to be St. Patrick’s Day, so my friends and I checked out what festivities lied in Downtown Nashville, and we saw sights we would never forget.

The were occupied by a sea of people, all dressed in their green attire. My friends and I were swimming through this crowd, though we lost each other constantly. Along with the crowd in the street, we saw people stuffed in bars and partying on balcony’s, and we even saw a tractor on the street pulling a cart of people! We were trapped in a sea of green.

As the day went on, we found unique shops and restaurants to visit, such as Hattie B’s with their world famous Hot Chicken, as well as an empty, eerie gift shop, full of confederate flags and containing only two employees who kept singing quietly in random parts of the store. Also, we got to see Downtown Nashville at night, which turned out beautiful because of all the creative neon signs that lit up the darkness of the evening sky.

Through all the craziness of the day, my favorite part by far was getting to see it all with my friends. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.
